Brandon W Thomas, DipWSET

Owner & Nominated Educator

About Brandon:

Brandon began his wine education in Philadelphia with Neal Ewing earning the Level 2 Awards in Wines in 2009. He continued through the programs ultimately earning his WSET Diploma in 2013 and subsequently WSET Certified Educator in 2015. Under Neal’s guidance, Brandon taught the Diploma Systematic Approach to Tasting and Diploma Italian sections. Brandon also currently teaches WSET Level 3 at NY Kitchen.

Brandon’s first career was in the restaurant business, starting at the age of 15 and working his way up the ranks over 15 years. Most notably he developed wine and beverage programs for Chef Jose Garces as restaurants Amada, Garces Trading Company, JG Domestic, and Village Whiskey. His time at Jose Garces allowed him the chance to curate cocktail programs like a full carbonated bottled cocktail menu and divulge into Spanish wine. During his tenure at Amada, he traveled with Jorge Ordonez for 14 days visiting nearly every region in Spain.

After restaurant life, Brandon joined Regal Wine Imports, a National importer and distributor, where he managed the efforts of 300 wine, beer, and spirit producers as the Director of Product Development. In this role, Brandon was in charge of all winery relationships, the development of annual goals and programs, and education. He headed up the search committee for new wineries by researching and tasting numerous different wineries a week. During the five years at Regal Wine Imports, Brandon traveled to France, Italy and California, and attended ProWein.

In the summer of 2018, Brandon, and his wife Holly, relocated to the Finger Lakes accepting a position as Digital Brand Manager with Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery. He has taught WSET Level 3 Award in Wines at NY Kitchen in 2019 and 2020, and was the head of the Hospitality Committee for FLXcursion. He continues to taste and study with plans to apply for the Master of Wine programme. They now have two dogs, a baby boy arriving January 2021, and they are renovating an 1890s farmhouse in their free time.
